Organic's 'Bring Your Kids to Work' day 2007
On Thursday April 26th Organic participated in the 15th annual, nationally recognized Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
At the San Francisco office the day was strictly about having fun, and I can vouch that we were successful in doing that!
The children that participated ranged in age from 8 weeks old, to middle school students; some with a sibling in tow, and others braving the day on their own. We started the day with some breakfast snacks and a little informal meet and greet, then watched a presentation by Bill Camp. After the presentation was over we started our office tour which began fairly controlled, but slowly turned to kids scattered all over the office having a great time!
Kelley and Dan were definitely the glue that pulled us all back together at the end with their Happy Feet creative presentation- the kids were focused for almost 15 minutes, which after the morning seemed like a small miracle!
Lastly we split into groups for our Mini Camp Organic scavenger hunt which ended in the pizza party which the entire office was invited to. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves, and left with lots of goodies and full bellies to say the very least.
As someone who doesn’t have children of my own, this was an extremely cool opportunity for me to see a different side of people that I work with. It’s easy to forget that the person you see in the kitchen getting a cup of coffee every morning has a life other than what you see of them at Organic. They have families and fabulous, smart, creative children [you should have seen the white board after they were through with it!] that they go home to every day. I’m grateful that I could participate in this day, and am already looking forward to what may unfold next year.
Thanks again to Lara, Molly, and Kesha who put this all together!
