Rug Cutting Ceremony: Some SF Office Favs Hypnotize Us With Moves (From the Shadows)
$800 Raised for Bay Area Food Bank from Candygram Sales

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sort of like elementary school all over again, but
with a twist: Last week, the SF office had people send candy canes to
one another as "candy grams" (anonymously or otherwise), for a donation
of one dollar. We figured we might raise a couple of hundred dollars,
and we planned to donate the money to a local charity.
Dawn did a great job marketing the sweet initiative internally. I know I
had way too much fun doing this; I think I sent over 40 anonymous
candygrams to unsuspecting coworkers! Apparently I wasn't the only one
who got into the spirit: As a result of this effort, we have netted
close to $800 and counting! All proceeds will go to the SF Food Bank to
help feed those in need.
Going to do this again next year, for sure!
Tis the season,

I thought I'd do a two-for-one deal blog post this evening. First, it's Wine Blog Wednesday. Second, we had our annual food and wine pairing party over the weekend.
It's the #52 WBW hosted by Tim over at Cheap Wine Ratings. The challenge for this month was for a wine from Chile under $20, which isn't really much of a challenge. I almost always keep a wine from South America and Spain/Portugal for under $15 or even $10 on me at all times. These are the ultimate value regions of the world, with great reds for great prices. My favorite at the moment is still Portugal, but I might be bias because we are planning to visit in April.

Please...no wagering...but this is Commissioner Russ' (rather dry) recap of the coming playoffs in the Organic Detroit Fantasy Football League:
Playoffs consist of:
Jennifer Oskar - Temper Tantrums - have been number one almost all
season long the heavy favorite
Dan Mordan - Cobra Kai - tied for best record at 10-3
Dave Kuhn - Raccoons
Marsha Haslinger - Hassy Hawks
Steven Wertz - Fantasy Champs - former league commish has a highly
decorated trophy cabinet
Jane Miller - Misfitz
Eric Schrauben (friend of organic family, not employee) - Fish Hooks -
despite being in 7th place he is the total points leader
Russ Hopkinson - Team Discovery Channel - league commish who barely
squeeked into playoffs after an 1-4 start
6 teams did not make the playoffs but Tony Jankiewicz FH Fumblers and
Jason Harper Meatwads made the last week of the regular season exciting.

Organics are blessed to have coffee, pop, cupcakes, bagels and beer bashes. We are also blessed to have fun, interesting, well-paid careers--jobs where we're constantly trying to "find a gift."
Well, it's our turn to "give a gift."
The Organic food drive ends at NOON on Friday December 19th
Remember, the holiday season isn't about what you get, it's about what you give.
