Camp O. Thursday, 2:00 PM.
LAS VEGAS -- After convening this morning (earlier than I
would have expected!), teams had their protein and got out in the field for
research.
Right now, everyone is pursuing and hopefully
finalizing "the gift"...that one true insight. Right now, some are closer than
others, but all are pretty much on the same timeline. It's close!
Team Envy is busy sorting through all
insights, and they have come up with some pretty good quotes, several of which
have been tweeted, check out the campo17 twitter feed! I have to say, given all
the McDonalds and Nathan's wrappers, clearly our campers are way too busy to
eat anything remotely decent. Thanks Palms, for the comped fruit, we all needed
it!
Team Anger, who managed to get themselves
removed from the Wynn yesterday in true cub scout reporter fashion, are currently
holed up in their room circling, circling, circling their gift like an airplane
at JFK, but they are almost there. Next, they will head back out to work on
part two of their insight gathering, and tonight, they will probably be up most
of the night tying it all together. Along with everyone else.
Meanwhile, the counselors found a nice "gift"
for each member of the winning team, who will be selected after tomorrow's
presentations.
More later.

Camp O, 7:00 am.
LAS VEGAS -- Vegas is waking up, but most of the campers are still asleep after a long night of making new friends and gathering insights. Depending upon where they gathered those insights, some of them may have a very difficult time waking up this morning!
At last progress check last night, all teams were engaged and doing their research up and down the strip, and still at it at midnight. All groups are reconvening this morning with their counselors to check in on their progress, and for some, to explain certain things (like, why one team was asked to leave a venue they were researching!).
Once everyone is fortified with protein and something fried, we'll see how far along each team is in their journey! Who will be ahead at this time? Pride? Lust? Envy? Ready to make bets yet?

Camp O. Wednesday, 5:00 PM. LAS VEGAS
-- Last night and this morning, our campers were initiated with immersive
storytelling program from the Moth. Every one of us has great stories to tell.
The art is taking the typical anecdote and turning it into something that is
interesting, engaging, and meaningful. Each team had an opportunity to do just
that, finding themes where there were previously just topics, pulling out the
important examples and tossing away some favorite parts of their stories to get
to that critical insight. All received great feedback and everyone learned
something that useful in both work and play. Some of our counselors offered up stories
related to their own experience as campers. One person in particular shared how
Camp had truly been a life changing experience. It will be interesting to see
what our campers at #17 learn and how they grow as a result of this experience. Jon Gray, the Palms VP of Brand and
Revenue Development, was a special guest at Camp today, offering some very
candid stories and insights into the world of Vegas hotels. For those of you
that don't spend much time in Vegas, the Palms is a very youth oriented,
celebrity oriented hotel. I admit, it makes me feel old and not nearly
hip enough or scantily dressed enough. Jon did have some pretty good
celebrity stories of his own, one involving a donkey...and... well, 'nuff said. After receiving instructions, tips and
advice, the campers were set free to explore Vegas and the world of sin. Right
now, they are fresh, awake, have had no caffeinated beverages, and really are
still working out what they should actually be doing. We'll be checking back in
with them throughout the night to see how they are progressing in their quest
for insight and a great story. --tracy cote
